The Jeep® brand has had no shortage of great models on the market over the years. And that makes it pretty hard to pick out the best Jeeps and to rank them, but we’re not going to let that stop us. We’ve compiled a list of the 10 best Jeeps of all time and ranked them accordingly. There’s something for everyone in there, even if you don’t necessarily agree with the ordering.
10. 1987 Jeep Wrangler YJ
Did you know that the 1987 Jeep Wrangler YJ was the first Wrangler and the first to be designed with the Wrangler badge on it? Well now you do. It had some divisive design choices, such as the square headlights, but it’s those little things that lend it character and why it’s so appealing to so many people to this day.
9. Jeep Commander XK
With its very boxy design, the Jeep Commander XK is never going to be everyone’s favorite Jeep but it has a lot of fans even now. It’s certainly a very big, imposing and powerful car, boasting a 357-horsepower V8 engine. They didn’t stick around for very long, with the line being discontinued in 2010, but they had a lot going for them while they were around.
8. 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is synonymous with the 90s. It’s one of those cars that was incredibly popular back then and displayed some of the best aspects of car manufacturing during that decade. Most importantly for the drivers and families who used it, it was incredibly versatile and it remains the case if you find one in good condition today.
7. Jeep TJ Wrangler
The thing that really made the TJ Wrangler stand out when it was launched was the way in which it combined daily road use with the ability to perform exceptionally off the road. There weren’t many cars at that time capable of doing that; the TJ Wrangler was pretty much the first and certainly the first to hit a mass market and sell well.
6. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The Wrangler Rubicon is easily one of the best Jeep models to be launched in recent years. It has everything you need for off-road driving and as the image above shows, it can handle all kinds of weather conditions. The ground clearance is impressive and it’s efficient too. It offers a fantastic driving experience; that’s for sure.
5. Jeep CJ-5
For many people, the CJ-5 is the quintessential Jeep model and what they think of when they here that brand name. It made off-roading appealing to so many people and it really was the starting point for many people in that regard. There may have been better Jeeps that came after it, but this one will always have a special place in our hearts.
4. Jeep Cherokee XJ
The Jeep Cherokee XJ was around for quite a long time, having launched in 1984 and ending its run in 2001. It’s known as a versatile car that’s capable of going off-road, while also being great for families. There’s plenty of room in the back and space for storage and the design was always very popular with the mass market audience that the company was aiming for.
3. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
When it comes to power and performance, there’s nothing that beats the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It can reach 60mph in 3.5 seconds, and that’s not something you’d generally expect from a Jeep model. This car defies expectations, whether on the road, off the road or on the track.
2. Willys MB
This is where it all began, so it’d be wrong to conclude this ranked list of Jeep models without mentioning the Willys MB. It was used as a military vehicle in WWII and later was adapted to become a civilian car after the war was over.
1. Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited
It’s convertible, it has great ground clearance, four doors and it’s a Wrangler. There’s nothing to dislike about the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Launched in 2007, it’s been a hit for years and that’s not set to change. It’s ideal for off-roading and for regular road use.
Lists like these are pretty subjective and I’m sure you’ll have your own views on which Jeep is really the best one of all time. But we can probably all agree that these 10 Jeep vehicles are all of the highest standard and deserve recognition.
